The first is an £18.6m contract, as principal contractor, to refurbish Manchester Airport's main runway, Runway 1, under an existing framework agreement.
The Runway 1 Project will continue through to September 2011 and the airport will remain operational 24 hours bu using the second runway when the first is closed.
Costain has also been appointed by BAA as one of the suppliers for the Local Project Integrator (LPI) at London Heathrow. The contract is expected to be worth £8m a year and will run for up to four years from next month (March 2011).
This award builds on the success of similar contracts at Gatwick and Manchester Airports and the early completion of a £25m interchange for Gatwick.
