The contractor was awarded the work having been shortlisted two months ago alongside BAM Construct. The Coventry batch is one of two in the first round of the £2.4bn Priority School Building Programme – the second round of which covers Yorkshire and the northeast.

The EFA has launched the procurement exercise for a second batch of schools in the Midlands.

Wates will now work with the Education Funding Agency and the schools to develop the designs for the new facilities ahead of the start of building works.
