Cowlin picked for £10.4m Dorchester development

12 May 11 West Country contractor Cowlin Construction has been awarded a £10.4m contract for a council office development in Dorchester.

The project includes a four-storey office building for West Dorset District Council together with an undercroft car park, library and adult education facilities and associated external areas.

Cowlin’s client is Simons Developments which is delivering the project under a development management agreement with the council.

Architect Carey Jones, structural engineer BWB and services engineer Hannan Associate, appointed by Simons, have now been novated to the contractor.

Bristol-based Cowlin saw off six other bidders to win the contract, which was assessed 50:50 on price and quality.
