Crossrail names shortlists for remaining central London stations

19 Apr 11 Crossrail has revealed the shortlists for the remaining central London stations " Bond Street, Tottenham Court Road, Liverpool Street and Whitechapel stations.

Shortlists for all central London stations contracts are now confirmed. Total value of the main construction contracts for the six central London Crossrail stations is £1.5bn.

The following organisations will be invited to tender:

C412 – Bond Street (estimated value £200m);

  • Costain / Skanska JV;
  • Laing O’Rourke Construction Ltd;
  • BAM Nuttall / Ferrovial / Kier JV; and
  • Lend Lease Construction (EMEA) Ltd.

C422 – Tottenham Court Road (estimated value £200m)

  • BAM Nuttall / Ferrovial / Kier JV;
  • Dragados / Sisk JV;
  • Lend Lease Construction; and
  • Laing O’Rourke Construction.

C502 – Liverpool Street (estimated value £300m)

  • Balfour Beatty / Morgan Sindall / Vinci JV;
  • Costain / Skanska JV;
  • Laing O’Rourke Construction; and
  • Dragados / Sisk JV.

C512 – Whitechapel (estimated value £250m).

  • Balfour Beatty / Morgan Sindall / Vinci JV;
  • Costain / Skanska JV;
  • BAM Nuttall / Ferrovial / Kier JV; and
  • Dragados / Sisk JV.

The total combined value of these four main construction contracts is nearly £1bn. The shortlists for the remaining two central London stations, Paddington and Farringdon, were announced in January.

As previously announced, contract C405  for Paddington station (estimated value £250m)  is being contested by:

  • Costain Skanska JV;
  • Balfour Beatty, Morgan Sindall and Vinci JV;
  • BAM Nuttall, Ferrovial Agroman and Kier Construction;
  • Laing O’Rourke and Strabag JV; and
  • Carillion Construction.

Contract C435 for Farringdon station (estimated value £375m) is being contested by:

  • Balfour Beatty, Alpine BeMo, Morgan Sindall & Vinci JV;
  • Costain Skanska JV;
  • Laing O'Rourke & Strabag JV; and
  • BAM Nuttall, Ferrovial Agroman & Kier Construction JV.

Outside central London, new Crossrail stations will be constructed at Canary Wharf and Custom House while a station box for future development will be constructed at Woolwich. Canary Wharf station is being built by Canary Wharf Group and is under construction. Custom House station will be tendered later this year. Woolwich station box will be constructed by Berkeley Homes while the existing Abbey Wood station will be rebuilt by Network Rail.
