The six-storey development, on the corner of Cowcross Street and Farringdon Road in London, will offer 207,000 of commercial space, with shops at street level and offices above.
Approval was & property director Ian Lindsay, said: “By 2018 Farringdon will be one of Britain’s busiest rail stations, connecting Crossrail, Thameslink and London Underground services. The developments will accelerate the area’s regeneration, helping Farringdon re-emerge as a destination in its own right.”
The Cowcross Street scheme is one of two over-station developments planned in the Farringdon area. In June, Crossrail submitted plans for a commercial development at Lindsey Street to sit above the new Crossrail station eastern ticket hall, opposite Smithfield Market.
Construction of the over-site developments are scheduled to start during the latter stages of work on Farringdon Crossrail station. Crossrail will begin train services in 2018.
A total of three million square feet of development space is planned above Crossrail stations. Planning permission has so far been secured for more than a third of this.
