Doosan ups 30-tonner to Stage IV

5 Feb 15 Doosan has revised its 30-tonne crawler excavator to make it compliant with Stage IV EU emissions regulations.

The new Doosan DX300LC-5, which replaces the DX300LC-3 Stage IIIB model, has all the same bucket, arm and swing forces but an extra 8% drawbar pull.

The operating weight of the DX300LC-5 has increased by 900 kg, resulting in increases in lifting capacities of 1% over the front and 5% over the side.

The DX300LC-5 is powered by the Scania DC9 5-cylinder diesel engine, with an output of 202 kW of power at 1800 rpm, providing a 27% increase in engine power and a 30% boost in torque over the LC-3 model.  The engine meets Stage IV emission regulations without the need of a diesel particulate filter (DPF), through the use of cooled exhaust gas recirculation (EGR) and selective catalyst reduction (SCR) after-treatment technologies.

To help meet Stage IV regulations, Doosan has added a mass airflow sensor and exhaust brake to the engine.  The mass airflow sensor allows the electronic control unit to improve the management of airflow provided by the variable geometry turbocharger and to optimise fuel delivery to the combustion chamber based on air intake volume and rpm.

Doosan says that the result is an average 10% reduction in fuel consumption.
