Edmond Shipway to manage £250m Woburn Center Parcs build

5 Mar 12 Nottingham multi-disciplinary construction consultancy Edmond Shipway has been named as project manager and cost consultant for the construction of the new £250m Center Parcs holiday village at Woburn Forest in Bedfordshire.

Principal contractors for the project have yet to be named but more than 1200 jobs are expected to be created during the construction phase.

The development, Center Parcs’ 5th UK village, will be built on a 360 acre site just off junction 13 of the M1. Construction starts in the next few weeks and is scheduled to take two years. Opening is set for spring 2014.

The scheme comprises 625 lodges, centre buildings including swimming pools, a luxury hotel, a ground breaking spa and self-contained spa suites, indoor and outdoor sports facilities and a range of food and retail outlets.

Start of construction follows the completion of all the requirements of planning consent, including the construction of a new roundabout at Millbrook, the diversion of public rights of way and creation of new bridleways and cycle paths around the site.

Center Parcs is owned by Blackstone Group.
