Eiffage JV lands €385m civils contract for Paris waste centre

10 Feb 15 A consortium led by Eiffage has signed a €385m (£286m) civil works contract for the Ivry-Paris XIII waste recovery centre.

The contract was signed by Eiffage TP and Vinci subsidiary Chantiers Modernes Construction.

The overall contract for facility’s design, construction and operation.project is worth €1.8bn over 23 years. It was awarded by Syctom – the metropolitan household waste agency responsible for the management and recovery of waste from 84 towns in the Paris area – to the IP13 consortium, led by Suez Environnement subsidiary Sita and in which Eiffage TP is a co-contractor.

The project will reduce the volume of waste incinerated on the site and improve its energy efficiency compared with the existing facility. Key features include the creation of a new energy recovery unit with a capacity of 350,000t a year and excavation of an underground link between the plant and the Quai Marcel-Boyer dock at Ivry-sur-Seine. The underground link will reduce the use of road transport by replacing it with river traffic.

The design and construction contract for the Ivry-Paris III waste recovery centre is to be completed within an overall time limit of 12.5 years subject to confirmation of the various engineering and works phases.
