Harvey Group operations director Herbie Watterson said the move was in response to the growing number of contracts the Newtownabbey company has been winning in Great Britain.

“Over the past number of years we have won substantial business outside Northern Ireland,” he said, “and our new office which will initially accommodate up to 15 staff has been opened with a view to increasing our employment numbers beyond our current group figure of 110 to around 150.”

He continued: “In the past couple of years we have invested around £2m across the business and our GB expansion will bring the total invested to around £4m by 2018.”

This investment includes the acquisition last summer of Solmatix Renewables, a supplier of solar energy equipment. [See our previous report here.]

In the past year Harvey Group has also completed projects at Sheffield Hallam University and London’s Kings Hospital. In Belfast it has worked for the University of Ulster, Queen’s University, The Waterfront complex, The Titanic Building, and the Kingspan Stadium.

Outside of Northern Ireland, the company have secured a £20m order book so far in Great Britain for 2016/2017 including Luton Airport, a CAT A office fit-out in Fenchurch Street, NHS healthcare works and at the Lynchill Academy in Reading.
