This clears the way for the start of construction by FHJV, a joint venture company of Farrans and Heron Brothers.
Mersey Care Development is a consortium comprising Bilfinger Project Investments, gbpartnerships/Assura Group and Liverpool & Sefton Health Partnerships (LSHP).
The contractors are supported by a design team led by Medical Architecture and Arup. Robertson FM will provide facilities management services for the 30 year concession; soft FM services will remain with the client Mersey Care NHS Trust.
The former Walton Hospital site will be transformed into a 6,341m2 mental health in-patient facility with 85 single occupancy bedrooms.
Construction will start imminently and the hospital is due to be operational in December 2014.
