The contracts are worth a combined BRL224.8m (£55.1m). Ferrovial and Toniolo Busnello’s work involves the construction of three tunnels - one of them 747m long - and five viaducts, the longest of which is 845m in length.
“This contract expands Ferrovial Agroman’s international presence as it is our first project in Brazil,” said Ferrovial Agroman CEO Alejandro de la Joya.
The work is for contracts 6 and 7 of a project to widen the Serra do Cafezal section the Régis Bittencourt highway, BR-116, in south-eastern Brazil. The Régis Bittencourt toll road, owned by Brazilian operator Arteris, is one of the country’s most heavily-transited roads.
Ferrovial Agroman has been strengthening its international footprint in recent years. In 2013, 70% of its total revenues came from outside Spain and international contracts also accounted for 70% of its backlog.
