Galliford Try racks up £60m social housing orders

12 Feb 13 Galliford Try Partnerships has been named preferred bidder for £60m-worth of projects in the affordable housing sector.

Housing association Affinity Sutton has named Partnerships as preferred bidder for the Hampstead Reach project in north London. This £15.6m contract involves the construction of 80 mixed tenure homes and commercial units.

Partnerships has also been selected as preferred bidder by both developer Kitewood Estates and registered provider Gallions Housing to build 137 homes and commercial units in a £15.5m deal at Blackwall Lane in east London.

Partnerships will provide a further 54 affordable homes for Gallions Housing as a result of being selected as preferred bidder by developer MacDonald Egan for the £8.1m Neptune Wharf project, also in east London.

In the Midlands, the company is preferred bidder to deliver a £12m extra care scheme in Cannock for Staffordshire County Council. The project includes 64 apartments and a community centre. A further 14 homes for social housing will be created for The Wrekin Housing Trust.

Finally, North East Derbyshire District Council and housing management organisation Rykneld Homes have named Galliford Try Partnerships as their preferred bidder for a £10m contract to rebuild the Tarran bungalows in Ecklington and Killamarsh. A total of 129 new two-bed homes will be built to replace the pre-fabricated bungalows that were part of the post-war emergency building programme.

"Our Partnerships business continues to be a leading contractor of choice for registered providers and these new projects are testament to the success of our business model,” said Galliford Try chief executive Greg Fitzgerald. “We look forward to working with our partners to further improve levels of affordable housing across the country."
