Gilbert-Ash prepares Ulster hospital for new blocks

17 Feb 11 Belfast contractor Gilbert-Ash has won a £5.6m enabling works contract for the next stage of development at the Ulster Hospital.

The enabling works contract prepares the site for the future development and construction of a new acute and ward blocks. These will include day surgery, endoscopy, pharmacy and generic ward accommodation.

The enabling contract includes a new service road and street lighting, upgrade of an existing service road, a new drainage system, a new waste compound, new trust estate workshops/offices, and retaining walls and earth retaining structures.

The hospital in Dundonald, Belfast, is a familiar site for the contractor. Gilbert-Ash has previously worked on the new maternity unit and renal unit there.
