Hewden extends Skanska deal

14 Jun 11 Hire group Hewden has agreed a new two-year deal to supply powered access equipment to Skanska in the UK.

The contract includes the supply of a range of products from articulating and telescopic booms to scissor lifts, and builds on Hewden’s existing agreement with Skanska for the supply of accommodation units, which began in 2010.

Hewden sales and marketing director Jeff Schofield said: “We have worked closely with the company’s procurement team to ensure our provision matches its operational needs and is aligned to its sustainability and health and safety proposition. With our depot network throughout the UK, we are able to provide equipment to Skanska on a national basis.”

The deal follows a recent £1.2m investment from Hewden to increase the size and availability of its access equipment portfolio.

Matt Turner, strategic buyer for Skanska UK, added: "This new strategic agreement allows Skanska to build upon the strong working relationship with Hewden. We have placed significant importance on safe and efficient working at height practices combined with realising the economies and operational efficiencies available by working with an existing supply chain partner."
