Hot subbie goes under

26 Jan 11 An M&E contractor named in Real Business magazine's "Hot 100" companies just two years ago has gone into administration.

Leicester-based Warmsley Services Ltd, founded by Gary Cleaver in 2003, specialised in mechanical and electrical contracts for local authorities and did a lot of work for Leicester City Council schoos. The company had steady growth, averaging 32.5% a year up to 2008.

In 2009 Real Business magazine named the company the 94th fastest growing private company in the country that year.

But 2009 and 2010 proved too tough.  “We’re a sub-contractor,” Mr Cleaver had told the magazine. “It means we’re always the last to get paid, so we’re having to be very prudent with cash flow.”

Mark Bowen of Birmingham-based MB Insolvency was appointed administrator on 19 January 2011.
