Innovative New Slope Stabilisation Mesh - DELTAX

24 May 11 Geobrugg, Swiss manufacturer of slope protection and slope stabilisation systems including the well known high tensile strength TECCO and SPIDER meshes, has now launched a new product called DELTAX in the UK and Rep. of Ireland.

This new product has already been on sale in some selected other countries around the world such as Australia and Brazil, where it has met with approval and great success.

Recent investment and hence increased production capacity at the Swiss factory at Romanshorn on the shore of Lake Constance, now enables the product to be offered more widely and in particular in the UK and Republic of Ireland.

DELTAXmesh is made from a 2 mm high tensile steel wire, comes in roles of 30 m x 3.5 m and is notably lighter than the traditional “Twist Wire Hexagonal” mesh for a very competitive cost - especially when one considers the advantages.

These advantages may be summarised as follows:-

For the Client:

Comparable installed costs

Excellent overall value

Excellent whole life costing

Low visual impact setting new standards in landscape architecture

Superior corrosion protection with Geobrugg ULTRACOATING (EN ISO 9227)

Low carbon footprint as less steel needed

No plastic covering that can be damaged during installation and use;

For the Designer:

Predictable performance

Better strength that traditional “Twist Wire Hexagonal” mesh

Conforms to slopeface shape easily

Low visual impact setting new standards in landscape architecture

Low carbon footprint with less steel required

No plastic covering that can be damaged during installation and use.

For the Installer:

Easy to install - simply rolled out - does not spring back

Quick to install with less manpower

Lightweight for site handing

No plastic covering that can be damaged during installation and use

Cost comparable with traditional “Twist Wire Hexagonal” mesh

Lower installation costs.

Fuller details are as follows:- For DELTAXa high tensile wire is used, which is much stronger than the commonly used mild steel used for traditional “Twist Wire Hexagonal” mesh.  The DELTAXsteel has a breaking load of 1770 N/mm2 compared to around 500 N/mm2 for mild steel.

DELTAXhas been tested by external, independent institutes such as the LGA and TÜV in Germany. It is much stronger than a 2.7 mm hexmesh (80mm x 100mm) and slightly stronger than a 3 mm hexmesh (80 mm x 100 mm). In figures, this is 53 kN/m. These third party test results are available for customer’s and designer’s reference.

For DELTAXa state-of-the-art coating is used - ULTRACOATING which uses an Aluminium/Zinc/additive alloy. According to tests based on European Standards (EN ISO 9227) this is 10 times better than a conventional Zinc coating and three times better than an Aluminium/Zinc (95% Aluminium, 5% Zinc) in resisting corrosion.

No special tools are needed for DELTAXinstallation. Connection can be done the same way as with hexmesh rolls: simply use C-Clips, or seaming ropes, or even faster – TECCO/ DELTAX Clips, which need no tools at all!
