The first phase of the project sees the installation of a temporary Mess Kitchen, in the form of a single-storey modular building, capable of serving up to 500 personnel at three individual sittings. ISG Jackson will then commence the demolition of the existing Mess Kitchen and construct a new linked single-storey steel frame structure, with pitch tiled roof and brick façade, which will blend seamlessly with surrounding buildings. The commercial kitchen installation comprises innovative automated systems to enhance efficiencies and the building is designed to achieve an Excellent environmental performance rating under the Defence Infrastructure Organisation DREAM assessment protocol. The project is due to commence in May, with completion scheduled for May 2012.
