ISG Jackson has secured a £6.5 million project with North Essex Partnership NHS Foundation Trust

15 Mar 11 ISG Jackson has secured a £6.5 million project with North Essex Partnership NHS Foundation Trust to build a 25 bed inpatient Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services Unit in Colchester.

Replacing an existing facility, the new unit is being built close to the old Severalls Hospital site at Boxted Road Colchester, with the majority single-storey structure arranged around two courtyard areas and a central mixed use games area.

The facility's residential accommodation is arranged across two wards, and the unit incorporates dining areas, therapy and contemplation rooms, classrooms and administrative areas. Both courtyard garden areas will feature pleasant hard and soft landscaping elements and the central games area incorporates three green planted walls. Externally, the building has been designed to complement the local built environment with brick and timber cladding elements to its façade and large areas of curtain walling.

Significant landscaping to the site includes the formation of a number of swales to manage water run off and promote biodiversity. The building is targeting a BREEAM 'excellent' performance rating and will incorporate a ground source heat pump and photo voltaic cells.

The project is scheduled for completion in Spring 2012.
