7 Feb 11 ISG Jackson has pledged its support for British Diving by donating a prize fund worth £1,500 at the inaugural diving event held at the new Southend Swimming and Diving Centre.

Southend Swimming and Diving Centre is located at the Southend Leisure and Tennis Centre and is the most modern facility of its type in the UK. In addition to the diving pool, which features a moveable floor, fixed platforms at 1m, 3m, 5m, 7.5m and 10m, two springboards at 1m and a further springboard at 3m, the facility also boasts a 25m, eight lane competition pool and a smaller leisure pool.

ISG Jackson’s donation will be used as prize money at future diving competitions.  Philip Allerton, ISG Jackson’s Operations Director, Freddie Reynolds, ISG Jackson’s Project Manager and Kate Trueman, Leisure & Sports Manager for Southend-on-Sea Borough Council, presented the cheque to Alexei Evangulov, National Performance Director for the British Diving Team Powered by British Gas. Freddie was also invited to present prizes to the winner of the Men’s 1m dive at the national diving meet.

Philip Allerton commented: “We didn’t want our involvement with British Diving to end with the completion of the new swimming and diving centre at Southend, so ISG Jackson is delighted to extend its association with the sport through this donation. There are some incredibly talented individuals making a name for themselves within British Diving, showing the drive, commitment and ambition that bodes extremely well for our chances at the 2012 Olympics.”
