ISG uses pedal power to raise money for charity

15 Feb 11 ISG is putting pedal power to the test in a gruelling charity cycle ride from Manchester to London

‘ISG Links the Velodromes’ will cover over 200 miles in just over two days. A select group of riders from the main contractor will be joined by plucky clients to complete the challenge.

ISG has a strong connection to cycling in the UK as the contractor responsible for the construction of the new London 2012 Velodrome, as well as relaying the track at the National Cycling Centre in Manchester and building the Newport Velodrome. Money raised from the event will be shared between the Variety Club, which is dedicated to improving the lives of disadvantaged and disabled children and young people across the UK, and Aspire, a national charity providing support to people with spinal cord injuries.

Joe Webb, director at ISG, explained: “Since the business started to grow its portfolio of sport and leisure sector clients, there has been a strong correlation in the number of staff looking to participate in sport and adopt healthier lifestyles. The opportunity to raise money for two extremely worthwhile charities has meant the inaugural Manchester to London cycle ride has been heavily oversubscribed.”

The intrepid cyclists will depart from Manchester on May 4th and will arrive in Stratford, London on the evening of May 6th. Specialist cycling organisation Love Velo will handle the logistics for the challenge, with the group of 25 riders hoping to raise a significant sum for the two nominated charities.
