The scope of work includes the construction of a dual carriageway four-lane road and a bypass to the south of the Trawalla township. The project will connect the existing sites between Ballarat and Trawalla and is a major part of the broader Western Highway upgrade programme between Ballarat and Stawell.

John Holland group managing director Glenn Palin, said that the award builds on the company’s recent completion of the Anthonys Cutting Western Highway realignment project.

The Western Highway is the principal road link between Melbourne and Adelaide, facilitating interstate trade and transport support to the western district’s farming and manufacturing industries.

Construction works begin in April 2012 with completion expected in June 2014.
