“We had been experiencing some reliability issues with an alternative make in our fleet and decided it was time to change,” said co-director Keith McWilliams.

The 4.8-tonne Volvo ECR48C is powered by a Volvo 2.2 litre low emission engine producing 35hp coupled to a closed centre, load sensing hydraulic system for fast cycle times, smooth control and independence of each machine movement. Two-speed travel on the machine is fully automatic.

The machine offers a horizontal reach of 6.1m, a dig depth of 3.8m and a lift capacity of 412kg at full reach across the carriage. Attachments and buckets are changed either manually or by hydraulic quick hitch.

The machines were supplied by Volvo’s dealer for the southwest, Plant & Engineering Services.
