KBR to manage Adelaide’s water projects for five years

3 Jun 11 KBR has been awarded a five-year project management and procurement contract by SA Water to manage the delivery of the capital works programme for Adelaide, South Australia.

SA Water is owned by the government of South Australia and delivers water and wastewater services to almost 1.5 million people across the state. The contract will begin on 1 July and its final value will depend on the size of the SA Water capital plan.

“The new PMP structure will provide SA Water with more flexibility to tailor procurement arrangements for specific project packages,” said SA Water chief executive John Ringham.

KBR will provide project planning, project management, procurement and construction management for projects ranging from AU$500,000 (£325,000) to AU$11m (£7.2m) for the water utility.

KBR will use SA Water’s panels for design, construction and other services and SA Water will determine   how projects worth more than $11 million are delivered.

SA Water and KBR will work closely together to deliver the best value for the capital works programme. KBR has completed other projects for SA Water, including multiple improvements to the Bolivar wastewater treatment plant.

A separate operations and maintenance contract was awarded to AllWater in February 2011.

“Having played a key role in delivering many large water infrastructure projects in South Australia for more than 15 years, KBR is proud to continue our long-standing relationship with SA Water,”said Colin Elliott, president of KBR Infrastructure & Minerals. “We will bring together our local expertise in the water market sector, and experience from similar programmes of works elsewhere in the world to deliver these services.”
