Keltbray starts Oval gasholders remediation

10 Feb 22 Keltbray has started work on a contract to deliver remediation works on Berkeley Group’s Oval Village Scheme in London.

House-builder Berkeley is developing the former gasworks site next to Surrey Country Cricket Club’s Oval ground.

Works will include site wide remediation and refurbishment of the landmark Gasholder No.1, which is being retained within the design of the housing development.

Berkeley’s Oval Village will ultimately have 1,309 apartments and 15,000 sqm of shops and offices on completion.

Remediation services being provided by Keltbray include:

  • bulk excavation, obstruction removal (including gasholder wall demolition) and filling
  • material processing and re-use, to form development platform/s
  • offsite disposal of surplus / unsuitable material
  • sheet piling including soil loosening and UXO mitigation
  • capping beam construction
  • gasholder No.1 refurbishment (capping beam and columns)
  • verification and reporting.

Keltbray will also be in charge of environmental monitoring to ensure that odour, dust and noise emissions are monitored and appropriately controlled.

Keltbray is due to complete before the end of 2022.
