Keltbray swings away from landfill

25 Jan 11 Civil engineering and demolition contractor Keltbray has got itself into the golf business by acquiring Golf Environmental Ltd. The rationale is to reduce the amount of material it sends to landfill.

Golf Environmental specialise in the design and construction of golf courses, sports facilities and restoration projects related to redundant landfills and quarry sites. Founders David Badham and David Coussell join Keltbray and bring with them Golf’s soil disposal and operational facilities in Basingstoke, Birmingham, Oxford, Reigate and Uxbridge.

Golf’s sites require a lot of inert material; Keltbray is committed to halving the amount it sends to landfill by 2012, compared to 2008 levels. Having the opportunity to send inert waste to golf courses and other sports facilities, Keltbray can offer clients an alternative waste strategy to landfill.

Keltbray Golf Environmental plans to develop beyond providing sports facilities to the general restoration of contaminated land, returning it to use as allotments or parks.
