Kevin is Stepnell Site Manager of the Year

24 May 11 A highly experienced construction professional is celebrating after being named by construction and civil engineering firm Stepnell as its Site Manager of the Year.

Kevin Farnfield, who works for the company based at its Poole office, was presented with a shield, a trophy and a bottle of champagne by Stepnell managing director Mark Wakeford to mark his achievement. Site manager Kevin, 62, was rewarded for the outstanding quality of his work, professionalism and maintaining the highest standards of health and safety on projects he has worked on for the company in Dorset in the past 12 months.

“Kevin is one of our most experienced site managers and he thoroughly deserves to win this award,” says Mark Wakeford, Stepnell managing director. “He has shown a fantastic level of commitment and dedication over many years and I’d like to congratulate him on this excellent achievement.”

Kevin joined Stepnell as a self-employed site manager in 1985, becoming a permanent employee 10 years later. He has spent his entire working life in the construction industry, beginning his career in the mid-60s as an apprentice carpenter and joiner. He trained to become a carpenter foreman, then a general foreman, before qualifying as a site manager. He is currently working on a scheme to refurbish an industrial unit in Hamworthy.

“It’s the first time that I ever won anything like this and I’m absolutely delighted; I couldn’t believe it when I was told that I’d been chosen as I didn’t even know that I’d been nominated,” says Kevin. “It’s a great honour because Stepnell has lots of great site managers who work for the company all over the country, so to be named as the best makes me very proud.”
