Kier and Laing O’Rourke in winning JV for £190m Hong Kong station

19 May 11 A joint venture of Kier Construction, Laing O’Rourke and Kaden Construction has won a £190m contract with Hong Kong’s MTR Corporation for construction of the new Admiralty station.

Under the four-year contract, the existing station will be  extended to provide interchange facilities between the existing Tsuen Wan Line, the new South Island Line (East) and the proposed Shatin to Central Link.  Four new platforms will be built below and adjacent to the existing station. Work also includes an interchange concourse, relocation of existing passenger entrances and external landscaping.

MTR had agreed a deal this week that opened the way for work on the new projects.

The contract was won against international competition following a two-stage tender process and will be executed under a target cost arrangement with work starting on site immediately.

“We are delighted with the award of this prestigious contract which will give us the opportunity to extend our excellent and long-standing relationship with MTR Corporation and further strengthen our presence in the area,” said Kier Group chief executive Paul Sheffield.
