Kier Eastern has begun construction work on a new £2.8m Olympic gymnastics centre

12 Jan 11 Kier Eastern has begun construction work this week on a new £2.8m Olympic gymnastics centre at the University of East Anglia's (UEA) Sportspark on 10 January.

Due to be completed by August, the 648sq m facility will be built at the back of the existing Haydn Morris Hall.

Fully equipped to Olympic standard, the gymnastics centre, which will cater especially for those who wish to take up gymnastics at an introductory level, will feature pits for vaulting, a high bar, tumble track, floor area and floor-level trampoline.

Spectator areas at ground and first floor level are also proposed, along with the ability to add further seating for competitions.

Kier Eastern has a long-standing relationship with UEA, having previously completed an ambitious refurbishment of the university’s famous Ziggurat halls of residence early in 2008 and a new sports hall at Sportspark in 2009.
