Kier lands Jamaican wastewater contract

6 Jun 11 Kier Construction has been awarded a US$6.3m (£3.8m) Jamaican government contract to build a wastewater pumping facility in Kingston.

The project forms part of the Kingston Water & Sanitation Project, being undertaken by the National Water Commission.

Minister with responsibility for information, telecommunications and special projects Daryl Vaz said:  “With the impending redevelopment of the downtown Kingston area, the National Water Commission is taking the initiative to provide for sewage generated in the service area to be transported via an existing pipeline to the wastewater treatment plant at Soapberry, St Catherine.”

The facility will be capable of handling flows up to the year 2030.
