Mr Simkin, aged 62, joined Kier in 1989 and set up the property business. He played a key part in Kier’s acquisition of Laing Property in 2002 and was appointed to the board in January 2003 as director responsible for the Property division. In July 2008 he took on the additional responsibility for Kier Project Investment and the new business stream Kier Asset Partnership Services.

Mr Lawson, 53, rejoined Kier in 2000 as managing director of its Infrastructure Investment operations. In October 2005 he was appointed main board director responsible for Support Services and in July 2008 his responsibilities were extended to include the Homes division, embracing both the private and social housing businesses.
