Les Taylor fleet put up for auction

21 Feb 11 A huge auction of construction plant and equipment belonging to the failed Les Taylor Group is being held in Aberdeenshire on 23 March. More than 500 lots are to be sold, including excavators, dozers, telehandlers, dumper trucks and flatbed trucks.

The auction is being run by Thainstone Specialist Auctions on behalf of receivers Ernst & Young. The location is the Thainstone Centre in Inverurie although bidders can also join a live webcast to participate.

Receivers hope to raise more than £3m for creditors – which would still leave them £12m short to meet all debts.

Some 164 employees of Les Taylor Contractors and sister company JG Fowlie were made redundant last month after the divisions went into receivership. A buyer is still being sought for Grampian Building Contractors, which was itself acquired by Les Taylor Group less than three years ago.
