Liebherr to flex its muscles at Bauma

Some 60 different machines will be exhibited at the Munich fair, including numerous product launches.

Although the company is registered as Swiss for tax purposes, Liebherr is very much a local Bavarian enterprise and Munich is home turf.

From the cranes programme the new 150 EC-B flat top tower crane will be joined by the 357 HC-L luffing jib tower crane which makes its first appearance. From the mobile crane programme, the new nine-axle LTM 1750-9.1 all-terrain crane will be shown alongside the LTR 1220 telescopic-boom crawler crane.

The earthmoving range features a number of world premières, starting with the A 910 compact wheeled excavator and the new 22-tonne operating weight R 922 crawler excavator. From the hydrostatic drive wheeled loader range, the new concept L 506 C and L 508 C compact loaders will be seen for the first time and, joining them are the new revised mid-range machines, together with the IIIB generation of large wheeled loading shovels. For the demolition industry, Liebherr will be displaying the new R 946 demolition excavator. Finally, from the earthmoving programme and making its debut, is the TA 240, Liebherr’s new 40-tonne capacity articulated dump truck.

Mining machines are represented by the 350-tonne operating weight R 9400, which will be displayed in face shovel configuration featuring a 22m³ capacity bottom dump bucket.

From the specialist materials handling range, the LH 30 M makes its show debut. This 30-tonne class machine is a successor to the A 924 C Litronic.

Machines for special civil engineering applications include the 160-tonne LB 44 rotary drilling rig (pictured below) and the 350-tonne HS 8300 HD duty cycle crawler crane, which has a hybrid drive system that stores surplus energy and is then regenerated, reducing fuel consumption and emissions.

On a separate stand, Liebherr is presenting machines from concrete pump manufacturer Waitzinger, which Liebherr acquired in October 2012.  Four truck-mounted concrete pumps and other equipment is on display. These machines are now being sold under the Liebherr name.

The Bauma fair takes place every three years in Munich. The next one runs from 15 to 21 April 2013.
