Lovell chosen for £2.6 million Portsmouth supported housing scheme

17 Mar 11 Affordable housing developer and regeneration specialist Lovell has been chosen by First Wessex to build a £2.6 million supported housing development in Greetham Street, Portsmouth.

The development will provide support and accommodation for disadvantaged young people aged 16-25.

A former vicarage has been demolished to make way for the six-storey building which will house 54 self-contained living units. Each bedsit will include en-suite bathrooms. There will also be ten communal kitchens as well as facilities for learning.

In addition, the building will incorporate sustainable features such as a green sedum roof, helping it to achieve a Building Research Establishment Environmental Assessment Method (BREEAM) rating of ‘very good’. Construction work will start in April and take 12 months to complete.

“We are very pleased to have been selected by First Wessex to carry out this important scheme which will provide much-needed supported living accommodation for young people,” says Lovell regional director Steve Coombs. “We have a strong track record in delivering this type of housing scheme and look forward to using our expertise in partnership with First Wessex.”
