The contractor was selected by new social housing provider Cartrefi Cymunedol Gwynedd Cyf (CCG) and work is set to start next month (April).
Lovell will carry out a range of modernisation work designed to bring the housing association’s stock up to the Welsh Housing Quality Standard. The programme will vary from home to home and will include improvements such as the installation of new kitchens and bathrooms, new heating systems and external, roofing and structural work.
Lovell wants to use as many local subcontractors and suppliers on the CCG scheme as possible and has already held an event in Caernarfon to attract local contractors to work on the programme. It is also recruiting for staff in Gwynedd and is also set to create opportunities for training, by taking on local apprentices to work on the modernisation programme. Lovell, which has a North Wales base in Mold, Flintshire, will open an office in Caernarfon in April.
