The trucks were sold by Terex UK distributor TDL Equipment in what is being described as one of the biggest articulated truck deals of the year.

The 28-tonne payload rigs will be used by Lynch’s customers on mainly civil engineering and tunnelling projects.

The deal represents a repeat order for TDL. Lynch bought six Generation 9 Terex trucks in 2011 and several Generation 7 trucks in 2007, 2008 and 2009. These trucks have worked on such projects as the London 2012 Olympics and Crossrail.

Lynch operations director Merrill Lynch said: “We were extremely pleased with the Terex trucks and the service we received from TDL Equipment so our inclination was to return to them. However, this is a huge investment and we wanted to make sure we were making the right choice for our customers’ profitability. After competitive analysis of several truck brands, we were certain that the TA300s and the offer from TDL Equipment could help us provide the best package for our customers in terms of reliability and value.”

He added: “It’s vital that our trucks perform well for our customers. Over the past year, we’ve been pleased to hear feedback that, since the trucks changed to Generation 9 and Tier 4i, many of them have seen an impressive fuel saving. We feel that, in meeting emission regulations, the selective catalytic reduction system utilising diesel exhaust fluid technology has proven to be a great solution for the trucks as this is the best technology for machines that typically work in low-duty cycles.”
