The order covers the supply of 216 tracked and wheeled machines ranging in size from 14 to 38 tonnes. It was booked by Aldermaston-based dealer Promac Solutions, which ciovers most of southern England for Doosan.

The order forms part of L.Lynch Plant Hire's planned total 2014 investment in new equipment of nearly £60m and will help meet the company's growing involvement with the UK's rail infrastructure programme.

Lynch operations director Merrill Lynch said: "We have been trialling some Doosan machines in our fleet over the last couple of years which resulted in excellent feedback from both our staff and customers in terms of comfort, performance and reliability. However, one of the key factors that influenced our final choice of Doosan was the availability of the latest Tier 3B engines offering our customers significant benefits by way of reduced fuel consumption and lower carbon footprints, benefits which far outweigh the additional cost involved."
