First Women & Women in the Built Environment Awards 2012 launched

12 Mar 12 Phyllida Lloyd, director of The Iron Lady and Mamma Mia, addressed more than 100 leading businesswomen to mark the launch of the 2012 First Women Awards and the introduction of a new category (sponsored by COINS) for Women in the Built Environment.

Representatives from COINS, a global provider of business systems and services attended the breakfast meeting. Marketing Director Bev James said: “Phyllida is an inspiration – like construction, the film making industry is a male-dominated sector and she is proof that being female is no barrier to success.”

By supporting the First Women in the Built Environment Award COINS is keen to raise the profile and promote the groundbreaking work performed by women in their sector. “Today is International Women’s Day and we would like to encourage as many people as possible to nominate their female achievers and get behind this great initiative,” said Ms James.

Nominations are now open to women in all areas of the built environment, including architects, contractors, lawyers, consultants, engineers, quantity surveyors, project managers and those providing products and services to the industry.

The closing date for entries is 13 April 2012, with the awards ceremony taking place on 28 June 2012 at Grand Connaught Rooms, London.
