Mansell daredevils complete abseil challenge

23 Jun 11 15 Mansell employees have conquered one of Glasgow’s tallest buildings by taking part in an abseil 240 feet down St Andrew House to help raise vital funds for Maggie’s Cancer Caring Centres.

The centres provide information and support designed specifically to help people live with, through and beyond a diagnosis of cancer. All of the services are provided free of charge, relying wholly on fundraising to keep the centres running.

Over £10,000 has so far been raised for this worthwhile cause through the generosity of those that sponsored the participants.

Mansell is completing a multi-million pound contract to convert the existing eighteen-storey high office building into a Premier Inn hotel and reclad retail units on Sauchiehall Street in Glasgow for West Nile Construction. The overall value of the project is £18.5 million.

The contract involves the re-cladding of the outside of the two-storey retail podium, which will remain occupied during the project. The existing tower block has been stripped of its existing concrete cladding to be replaced with a modern unitised envelope with the interior remodelled to create a new 220 bedroom city centre hotel.

The project is due to complete in August 2012.
