Mansell lands £6.3 million contract to build new school in Kent

14 Feb 11 Mansell has won a £6.3 million contract to build a new two-storey primary school in Kent for Canterbury Diocesan Board of Education.

The new Archbishop Courtenay Church of England Primary School will mean that two existing school buildings will be able to relocate to one site.

A nursery, football pitch and two multi-use games areas will also be built as part of the works.

This contract was procured through the Improvement and Efficiency South East (IESE) Framework and is aiming to achieve a BREEAM “Very Good” rating.

An ecological survey has taken place to ensure protection of the natural environment surrounding the site.

Kent County Council Deputy Cabinet Member for Children, Families and Education, Gary Cooke said: “This new school building will offer first class facilities and provide youngsters with an excellent educational and learning environment. A great deal of attention has been paid to making this an extremely energy efficient building and I look forward to seeing it take shape."

Work started on site last month and is expected to complete in January 2012.
