May Gurney signs £50m Harrow deal

11 Jan 12 May Gurney has been awarded a £50m highways maintenance contract by Harrow Council.

Starting in April 2012, the initial contract period is five years with an option to extend for a further two years. The contract has been awarded in three ‘bundled services’ lots and includes maintenance of the key infrastructure assets - highways, carriageways, footways, streetlights, gullies, and watercourses.

As part of the contract, May Gurney will also maintain highways infrastructure assets belonging to Transport for London Underground and watercourses owned by the Environment Agency.

May Gurney says that its current forward order book stands at £1.5bn (including framework agreements but excluding extensions) and there is a strong pipeline of bidding opportunities and potential contract extensions worth in excess of £4bn in May Gurney's core markets.

Chief executive Philip Fellowes-Prynne said: "We are delighted to be working with Harrow Council on this new contract, which reinforces our position as one of the leading providers of highways maintenance services to local authorities in the UK. We continue to focus on providing innovative and cost effective solutions to help local authorities manage their essential infrastructure assets and look forward to building a strong and valuable relationship with Harrow Council."
