According to BBC reports, Mivan and Lagan Group Holdings had been in talks about joining together. However, these talks have now concluded with no agreement being reached.

Both companies are privately owned. Belfast-based Lagan Group Holdings, owned by Kevin Lagan, is a diverse quarrying, cement, building materials, house building and civil engineering Group of companies.

Antrim-based Mivan, founded by its chief executive Ivan McCabrey in 1975, is more focused on high-end fit-out projects.

A planned merger between Lagan Cement and part of the Quinn Group was called off last year when Kevin Lagan received a bullet in the post.
