The existing 70-year-old Forth Primary School building is to be demolished and replaced with a new 31,200 sq ft eight-classroom school building. It will include a public library, meeting room, crèche, community learning space and multi-use games area (MUGA).

Work is phased to allow the school’s 185 pupils and 80 nursery children to remain on site throughout the project.

The new building is due for completion in spring 2014. The existing school will then be demolished and the new landscaping scheme completed by autumn 2014.

The contract was awarded under the council’s £812m Primary Schools Modernisation Scheme which will rebuild all 129 of the authority’s primary schools by 2016.

Morgan Sindall area director Eddie Carr said: “Schools are more than just a place to educate children, they are often the heart and hub of a community. This inspiring and modern school campus will provide an excellent place to learn and the new facilities will boost community life in Forth village.

“As an education building specialist, we are pleased to be able to use our extensive knowledge and skill-set on this project.”

Morgan Sindall is already working on other projects under the Primary Schools Modernisation Scheme including the £4.6m Carstairs Junction Primary School and £4.8m Carstairs Village Primary School.
