Morrison preferred for £57m Orkney schools

6 Jan 11 Morrison Construction has been selected as preferred bidder for the Orkney Islands Council's £57m Schools Investment Programme.

The project involves construction of a new grammar school, arts theatre and halls of residence in Kirkwall, a new primary school in Stromness, a new swimming pool and squash courts at the Pickaquoy Centre and three all weather sports pitches. Funding comes from the Scottish Government and the Scottish Futures Trust. The new facilities will be built over the next three years.  

Morrison Construction is the Scottish subsidiary of Galliford Try. Under the Orkney contract sister company Galliford Try Facilities Management will provide a range of services for 10 years including building and grounds maintenance.
