Most MJN Colston employees let go as administrators fail

6 Mar 12 The administrators of failed building services contractor MJN Colston have only been able to find a buyer for a small part of the business, and shut down most of the company's operations.

Property maintenance firm Integral Holdings UK Ltd has bought part of the MJN Colston business, enabling 47 jobs to be saved in the Bristol and St Edmunds offices. Integral has taken on MJN Colston's defence contracts

However, 241 employees have been let go as offices in Gateshead, Blackburn, Coventry, Exeter, Bridgend, Croydon and Thornaby have all closed down. This is in addition to the 148 employees who were laid off two weeks ago when the administrators from Deloitte were first called in. The administrators had kept on most of the employees at first in the hope of being able to sell the business as a going concern. Ultimately they failed in this.

Joint administrator Daniel Butters, a partner in Deloitte’s restructuring services team, said: "We are pleased to announce the sale of part of MJN Colston to Integral Holdings UK Limited.  The sale of part of the business has enabled the jobs of 47 employees in Bristol and Bury St Edmunds to be saved."
