Neil Cameron takes on Ocon business development role

14 Jun 11 Ocon Construction has appointed Neil Cameron to the new post of business development executive, bringing client-side expertise to the company’s plans for growth.

A registered architect and qualified BREEAM Assessor, Neil brings to Ocon a varied range of skills and experience that includes senior posts in design management, project management and estates management.  He was formerly director of estates at Sheffield University, an institution with more than 20,000 students, 6,000 staff and a turnover in excess  of £400 million.  He also spent ten years as head of estates and assistant director of the facilities directorate at Sheffield Hallam University.  His career also includes project management of public sector construction programmes for agencies as diverse as the MoD, the Ministry of Agriculture and the Inland Revenue, along with design management expertise.

Comments Neil: “I have spent my entire career in construction and property-related roles but have never worked for a contractor before so this will be a new challenge for me.  Ocon has an excellent reputation in the university sector and my remit includes helping to build on this whilst also helping the company to diversify into other sectors.”

Neil’s appointment follows the appointment of Nick Williamson-Corbett as Ocon’s new business development manager and forms part of the company’s strategic plan to grow to a £100 million business within the next 3-4 years.

Comments Ocon’s managing director, Andy Barker: “Neil has a wealth of knowledge, particularly in our core sector, and an understanding of what clients are looking for from their contractor.  These attributes will make him a valuable addition to the team that will complement our client-focused approach that delivers added value.”
