New Arup offices in Taipei and Adelaide

18 Mar 11 Consulting group Arup has opened new offices in the Taiwan capital Taipei and in Adelaide, Australia.

Arup has been active in Taiwan since the Taipei Metro project in the 1980s and is currently working on 'i-Taiwan' infrastructure projects.

"The establishment of the local operation reinforces Arup's commitment to the Taiwan market," said group deputy chairman Andrew Chan, "Taiwan has enviable economic achievements, with high environmental consciousness and distinct green credentials. It is due for further development and deserves top quality built and living environments of international recognition. Arup will bring our global expertise, work with our Taiwan partners, and create tailored solutions for Taiwan to further drive its low carbon economy."

The new Adelaide office is looking to benefit from the record A$80bn of major infrastructure projects either planned or already under construction in South Australia.

John Haese, Arup's Adelaide office leader, said: "We're excited to be attracting some of Arup's best minds from around the world to Adelaide, which is reflective of the strong industry growth and opportunities we're experiencing here.

"It's an important time for all of us, as the government and industry looks to revitalise rail and transport networks and implement the 30 year plan including increased focus on transit oriented developments."
