New commercial manager for Stepnell

31 Mar 11 Construction and civil engineering firm Stepnell has strengthened its senior management team by promoting Charles Hicks to the role of commercial manager.

Charles, 39, takes up his new position after almost nine years working for Stepnell as a senior quantity surveyor. Based at the company’s head office in Rugby, he will be responsible for overseeing the company’s commercial operations and brings extensive experience in design and build construction projects, PFI contracts and commercial development to the role.

The holder of a BSc (Hons) in Commercial Management and Quantity Surveying from Loughborough University, Charles began his career as a quantity surveyor with Birse Construction and previously worked for Kier before joining Stepnell in 2002.

“I’m very excited to have been chosen as Stepnell’s new commercial manager.” says Charles. “Despite a challenging economic climate, Stepnell is a financially-strong and robust family-owned business which has some excellent opportunities for growth in 2011 and beyond. I’m thrilled to be playing a part in helping to shape the company’s future.”

“Charles’s experience makes him an ideal choice for the role of commercial manager and we’re delighted to welcome him to the senior management team,” says Stepnell managing director Mark Wakeford. “We’re confident that his in-depth knowledge of Stepnell’s operations will be an excellent asset to us as our business continues to evolve.”
