New generators and compressors from Doosan

26 Jan 12 Doosan Portable Power is using the Intermat trade show in Paris in April to launch new compressors and generators that meet latest engine emissions regulations.

A new series of large portable compressors, as well as the 7/26E+ and 7/31E+ Tough Top portable compressors and the G150-IIIA (150 kVA prime power) and G200-IIIA (200 kVA prime power) generators all meet the EU Stage IIIA engine emission regulations for generators that came into force in January 2011.

Large portable compressors

The new 12/250 model to be shown at Intermat is the first of five large Stage IIIB compressors based on a common platform, offering free air deliveries from 21.5 to 30.0 m3/min.  The Stage IIIB models are called 9/275, 9/305, 12/250, 17/240 and 21/220  to distinguish them from the predecessor Stage IIIA models in the same capacity range, the 9/270, 9/300, 12/235, 17/235 and 21/215.

The compressors are powered by the Cummins QSL9 Stage IIIB engine using exhaust gas recirculation (EGR), diesel oxidation catalyst (DOC) and diesel particulate filter (DPF) after-treatment technologies.

The new models are designed to combine compact size with easy serviceability. Two units of the new 12/250 model can fit on a typical delivery truck and although smaller than its predecessor, the 12/250 compressor offers a higher flow: 25 m³/min compared to 23.5 m³/min previously.

The 12/250 compressor has a completely new control system with a full colour digital display.  Manuals in electronic form are available on the display, and the WiFi interface allows for live streaming of data to operators or to the laptop, tablet computer or smartphone of service technicians. Several additional features such as multiple air outlets, a 110% bunded base, central drains and forklift slots have also been incorporated as standard in the 12/250 compressor.

Doosan Portable Power is also launching new versions of the 7/26E and 7/31E portable compressors, equipped with the so-called Tough Top rust-proof polymer canopy.  The new compressors follow on from the 7/41+ Tough Top model launched in 2010.

The 7/26E+ model supplies 2.5 m3/min of compressed air at 7 bar output pressure and is powered by a 3-cylinder Yanmar liquid-cooled engine producing 21.2 kW of power at 2800 rpm.  Powered by a 3-cylinder 26.0 kW Yanmar engine running at 2800 rpm, the new 7/31E+ compressor supplies 3.0 m3/min of compressed air at 7 bar output pressure.

At Intermat, Doosan Portable Power is launching the G150-IIIA (150 kVA prime power) and G200-IIIA (200 kVA prime power) generators.  As well as incorporating the changes required to meet the Stage IIIA regulations, the new generators have been redesigned to offer increased reliability, high performance and a wider choice of features to meet the needs of temporary power applications, Doosan says.

The powertrain features John Deere Stage IIIA engines and Leroy Somer alternators.  The generators have a standard fuel capacity offering a minimum of 12 hours of autonomous operation (at 75% of the load), while a 24-hour onboard fuel tank configuration is available as an option.

Doosan believes that the Leroy Somer alternators with the AREP excitation system provide best-in-class motor-starting performance.  To increase long term reliability in harsh environments, the standard alternator configuration includes ‘heavy duty’ protection for the rotor and stator windings.
