Hood Plant Hire has spent £450,000 on a fleet of JCB 3CX Contractor backhoe loaders. The new backhoes come with Smooth Ride System (SRS) and TorqueLock.

According to JCB, TorqueLock reduces fuel consumption by up to 25% while increasing speed by up to 10 % and the Smooth Ride System reduces load spillage.

The machines were supplied by JCB dealer Gunn JCB in Stoke-on-Trent.

Hood Plant Hire was founded in Staffordshire in 1971 by Martin Hood with one backhoe loader. The business is now run by Martin’s son Fraser at Cold Meece, near Stone, and has 35 machines, ranging from 750kg micro excavators up to 30-tonne tracked excavators on a non-operated or operated basis, as well as wheeled excavators, dozers and dumptrucks.
