New luffers from Linden Comansa

8 Mar 11 Tower crane manufacturer Linden Comansa has introduced two new luffing jib models.

The new cranes, LCL 310 and LCL 280, together with last year’s LCL 190, form a new luffing series from the Spanish manufacturer, which will be completed this summer with the launch of a fourth model, the LCL 165.

The design and development of the series is based on Linden Comansa’s modular system, with most jib sections interchangeable between the cranes of the series. The tower sections are not only interchangeable with the cranes of the same series, but also with other Comansa flat-top cranes.

For ease of erection and transportation, the LCL cranes are designed with the hoist mechanism at the front, under the jib and near the cabin. The luffing mechanism, with its emergency second brake, and the electrical cabinet for the control of the crane are placed on the counter-jib. This design allows the installation weights and the slewing radius of the counter-jib to be reduced. Hoisting and luffing cables come preinstalled from the factory for faster assembly.

All the LCL cranes have electronic coordination between the luffing and hoisting mechanisms so that, at the push of a button, the load can remain at the same height form the ground while the boom rises (level luffing).

The hydraulic push and retention system maintains a progressive force application on the jib in relation to the luffed-in radius, for smooth movement.

Each of the two new cranes comes in three versions, depending on its maximum load: 12t, 18t and 24t. Their main characteristics are:

These luffers can be erected with either Linden Comansa’s 6m-wide cross base or its new 8m-wide cross base

Linden Comansa is also testing the prototype of a new Panoramic XL cabin, which will soon be available as an option in the LCL series of luffers and the LC2100 series of tower cranes. It is half a meter longer than the standard Panoramic cabin and includes a small refrigerator, an air handling unit (instead of air conditioning) and space to place a microwave or other small appliance to improve the operator's comfort.
